Cervical Screening (Smear Tests)

Female patients will receive a letter from NHS England informing them when a smear test is due. Please telephone for an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses.

Child Immunisations (Vaccines)

Following Department of Health guidelines, the Practice would encourage all children to complete the recommended Immunisation Programme. Both pre-school and school age catch-up programmes are offered.

Appointments can be made with one of our Practice Nurses.

Counselling

Counselling is available via a doctors referral. Please ask the doctor or staff about self-referral and access to other local mental health support services.

Family Planning (Contraception)

For initial contraception advice and prescriptions please arrange an appointment with one of the Doctors. Our Practice Nurses Jenny & Angela, can deal with routine contraceptive pill checks. 

We are currently unable to offer IUD (coil) fitting and subcutaneous contraceptive implants. Please ask the reception staff for details of alternative service providers that you can access.

Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccinations

We offer flu and pneumococcal injections every year from October onwards for those patients aged 65 and over and for those patients within a clinical at risk group. Clinics will be advertised in advance – please book an appointment via Reception.

Our team of Nurses supported by the GPs provide regular check up for patients with the following:

Managing Your Weight

If you need some help with losing weight, please make an appointment to see a Practice Nurse who will help you with dietary advice and to plan your weight reduction.

Midwife

A team of locally based Community Midwives look after our patients during pregnancy. The antenatal clinics are held at local child health centres in the Stockton area.

If you have a positive pregnancy test please contact our Receptionist who will advise you how to contact the Community Midwife.

Minor Surgery

Dr Garget and Dr Mendis hold regular Minor Surgery Clinics to deal with warts, cysts, in-growing toenails etc.

Please make an appointment for an initial consultation, so the GP can assess the procedure required. You will then be added to the waiting list

NHS Health Checks

The Practice Nurse will perform a health check involving blood pressure, weight, routine urine testing, etc. Advice is available on diet, smoking and other aspects of health promotion. It is recommended to have a health check every 3 to 5 years. 

Phlebotomy (Blood Tests)

There is a clinic held every day for those patients requiring blood tests. Pre-booked appointments are required.

Quitting Smoking

Our Practice Nurses are particularly interested in helping people to stop smoking. If you need further help and advice, please make an appointment to see them.
